Rain Style http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1037 http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1037#comments Thu, 26 May 2011 06:42:15 +0000 maxevan http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1037 In looking for the right look for a published book – and knowing that I will be going for a polished retail DC Comics / Marvel Comics / Image Comics / Dark Horse Comics quality when I do publish, whether it be with a big company, a small company or even independently, I have done a series of exploratory styles that I find… “comfortable.”

This is the one I like the most so far. Yes, that’s Rain. In the new “style.”

Having worked inthe past as a production artist as enabled me to do a few things well, and that is actually a great thing. If I wanted to I could take the time to make my art look EXACTLY like someone else’s work. I could, for example, make Rain in the style of the late great Michael Turner. And I’m sure commercially it would be successful as the work Michael Turner did was amazing and detailed. (Although I personally had a thing against his constant choice to always draw sexy women’s thongs going up and out of their pants on the sides. I can post a picture for anyone that doesn’t know what I’m talking about.)

But I believe that the personal status of the project makes it extremely important for me to stick to styles that I am personally very comfortable with. But at the same time it’s important for me to really make the art look good and to tell the story properly.

Anyway, feel free to message me and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

-Tanner

It’s not…! http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1032 http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1032#comments Thu, 04 Nov 2010 20:08:34 +0000 maxevan http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1032 Technically, it’s a mono-sub-atomic-filament fiber weave energy sword! The weave itself is so tight – forming a bond at the molecular level – that it keeps the energy within, in a zero degree lossless environment, but the act of striking the weave or applying pressure disrupts the structural integrity of it thus releasing the energy inside to do it’s job. The glow is a combination result of photon excitement and the dialed in frequency of the energy currently inside the blade.

Gonna remove the forums… good lord the spam! http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1029 http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1029#comments Tue, 02 Nov 2010 10:22:04 +0000 maxevan http://www.whoisrain.com/?p=1029 Seriously. It’s so bad. phpBB apparently has some kind of horrible hacker person support for spamming the forums with robotic forum member additions. Despite having a captchka and all those security features, they just keep coming and coming. And I’m tired of it. So until further notice, I think the forums will be taken off line.

In other news, a new comic post is up. Sort of a preview of the direction I’m going to be going in when I release the printed book. Of course, since I haven’t posted a comic in MONTHS it’s not like anyone (right now anyway) is gonna read this.l :D

So I also intend to finish the story that I was in the middle of when I had to slip off to work on the other projects that I’m involved with.

Right now, I’m in the middle of doing credits and 3d style location images for the film that I’m involved with and this past weekend I had to write a completely new spec TV script for admissions to a program I’m trying to get into at ABC/Disney. I am pretty proud of what I did. Both for my original spec screenplay Bones submission and now the Eureka episode I wrote.

While the odds of them ever getting made into the actual braodcast lineups is low, they both prove that I can write in the tone and feel of the given show.

So yay!

Anyway… enjoy the image. It’s a preview of the style I’m expecting to do the printed published book in. :)

Peace y’all!
